
Springfield, IL…The Illinois Police Memorial Committee held their 41st annual ceremony at the Capitol to pay tribute to fallen officers and their families. State Representative Mike Coffey (R-Springfield) joined law enforcement officers, fellow legislators, and community members to honor the lives and service of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
“The ceremony today was moving and served as a somber reminder of the sacrifices our law enforcement officers make every day to protect our communities,” said Coffey. “I was honored to attend and pay my respects to the fallen officers and their families.”
The Illinois Police Officers Memorial Committee was established in 1985 and hosts the annual Illinois Police Officers Memorial Ceremony to honor law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The ceremony took place on the Capitol lawn and included the Survivors Prayer, a gun salute, and the performances of “Amazing Grace” and “Taps.”
