2026 Illinois State Fair: Find Out What’s New This Year!

The 2026 Illinois State Fair begins August 13 and runs though August 23, and this year will bring plenty of adventure, new rides, and excitement at the state fairgrounds in Springfield.

This year’s fair events features a showcase of Illinois agriculture and products, as well as plenty of carnival rides for the kids, attractions, concerts and of course good food from a variety of vendors!

Each year, the Illinois State Fair Twilight Parade marches proudly through Springfield, announcing the annual eleven day showcase of Illinois agriculture and entertainment.

This year, the gates open at 7:00 a.m. with the parade beginning on August 13th at 5:30 p.m. The theme for 2026 Illinois State Fair is Miles of Smiles!

The fair is offering deals and discounts for veterans and visitors on everything from parking and admission to food.

This year’s grandstand lineup features everyone from Ella Langley, Bailey Zimmerman, Lainey Wilson, and more talented artists.

Be sure to check out the Route 66 Experience too!

Every day at the fair has special programs and discounted admission. Special days will celebrate agriculture, veterans, senior citizens, first responders and park districts just to name a few.

One especially popular contest each year is the “Golden Abe Fantastic Fair Food Contest” which recognizes the best new food item across several different categories. Last year’s winner was a donut ice cream sandwich from Chatham ice cream shop Scoop Du Jour.

There are free entertainment stages throughout the fairgrounds featuring musical and dance performers, cooking and crafting demonstrations, kids activities and much more!

Conservation World includes demonstrations of everything from chemistry, archery and fly fishing, to an eagle nest, voyager canoe and a lumberjack show.

Throughout the fairgrounds you can renew your driver’s license, catch the high-dive show, sample Illinois-made products, and enjoy the all-new Surfside Social Club on Route 66—your go-to spot to soak in the best of the Fair along Route 66. By day, it’s a laid-back social hub to enjoy a cold drink and live entertainment with family and friends. There is literally something for everyone!

And of course no visit to the Illinois State Fair is complete with stopping to see the world-famous butter cow.

So slap on some sunscreen and head to Springfield for this year’s Illinois State Fair. Adventure Awaits!
