Coffey Moves Forward in Effort to Deliver Financial Relief for Illinois Veterans

Springfield, IL…State Representative Mike Coffey (R-Springfield) issued the following statement after his veteran-support bill passed unanimously out of committee with strong bipartisan backing. House Bill 4232 provides meaningful financial relief to Illinois veterans by lowering the cost of vehicle registration fees.

“Veterans continue to play an important role in our communities long after their service, and they deserve financial relief,” said Coffey. “That’s while I filed legislation to give the men and women who served our country a discounted vehicle registration fee. I’m proud to sponsor HB4232 and grateful for the unanimous, bipartisan support it received in committee.”

HB4232 allows Illinois veterans to keep more of their hard-earned money by reducing their vehicle registration fee to $100, provided the vehicle owner has a driver’s license with a veteran designation.

Coffey said he’s looking forward to his bill being called for a vote on the House floor so it can move to the Senate before being signed into law.
