Yesterday, I joined community leaders and stakeholders to bring forth a long-term plan to advance downtown Springfield investments, centered on a new headquarters hotel and expansion of the Bank of Springfield (BOS) Center.
Legislation was filed to create a Capital Area Tourism Authority- which I call “Operation Save Downtown Springfield”.
Springfield needs more hotel rooms and a larger, more modern venue if we want to attract new and premier conferences, shows, and events. Expanding the BOS Center and adding a connected headquarters hotel allows the Capital City to compete for opportunities that are currently out of reach and brings new energy and investment into downtown.
This is not just a plan, it’s us taking action- It’s jobs, growth, momentum and a clear signal that Springfield is open for business.
