Coffey says implementing a service tax will lead to more outmigration

If the Democrats pass a service tax, it would affect every family, making everything more expensive–over 80 services are included: haircuts, TV streaming services, campgrounds, golf, vehicle repair, photography, landscaping, pet grooming, shoe repair, farm implements, grain storage, and the list goes on and on!

At the proposed 6.25% statewide rate, Illinois would edge past West Virginia’s 6% to become the highest statewide rate applied to such a broad range of services anywhere in the United States. Over 73% of the Illinois economy is service-producing industries, and most are not currently set up to pay sales tax. Rushed implementation will lead to many businesses choosing not to operate in Illinois.

We must end the progressive policies that are driving up costs because the people of Illinois are fed up with government controlling their lives and making it harder for them to get ahead in life! The majority party is not paying attention to the policies that drive families and businesses out of Illinois, or they simply don’t care. A service tax will not only burden consumers, but would disproportionately impact service based small businesses and startups.
