State Rep. Mike Coffey Launches his Summer Reading Program for Kids

Springfield, IL…State Representative Mike Coffey (R-Springfield) has launched his 3rd Annual Summer Reading Program for students in the 95th District. With help from local schools, Rep. Coffey is challenging students to read at least eight books over their summer break. Coffey said it’s a great opportunity for kids to improve critical skills that will help them succeed in school and will help them be better students.

“My Summer Reading Program is designed to challenge students to expand their imagination with the help of literature,” said Coffey. “Reading is a great tool for sharpening a variety of skills and I invite any students open to the challenge to join me in reading this summer!”

Rep. Coffey’s Summer Reading Program challenges K-6th grade students to read eight books during their summer break. Students who successfully finish reading 8 books and return the form by the August 1st deadline will be invited to a special pizza party.

Students will also receive an official certificate from the Illinois House of Representatives recognizing their commitment to reading.

Rep. Coffey’s office has delivered Summer Reading Program brochures to schools in the 95th District, and also has a submission form available on his website.
