Illinois Democrats are working to expand sales tax across a variety of services that Illinois residents rely on, sometimes on a weekly basis. The notion of charging a service tax on streaming services and car washes is just ridiculous when working families are already struggling. Illinois has a spending problem and the more we tax individuals and families to foot the bill for Democrat’s poor choices, we will continue to see outmigration. Illinois needs a new vision to move forward in the right direction, and taxing people to death is not the answer. We need to take a serious look at how we are spending taxpayer funds and we need to cut spending on programs and services that don’t benefit Illinois residents and businesses.

Illinois lawmakers are looking to collect $2.7 billion statewide by expanding sales taxes from mainly goods to many services such as streaming services, rideshares, gym memberships, car repair and more.

Illinoisans would find themselves paying sales taxes on:
- Netflix and streaming services.
- Rideshare services such as Über and Lyft.
- Gym memberships.
- Barbershops and beauty salons.
- Car washes and car repair.
- Plumbing, electrical and other repair.
- Lawn care and landscaping.
