City of Springfield to Receive $54,000 from Illinois EPA

The City of Springfield (Sangamon County) will receive $54,000 from the Illinois EPA for upgrades to drinking water treatment operations. The Springfield drinking water treatment plant is one of three water supply facilities to receive the award through the Public Water Supply Energy Efficiency Grant Program.

The funds will be used to reduce energy consumption in the city with cost effective energy efficiency (EE) upgrades to drinking water treatment operations. Projects include lighting and control upgrades, pump or drive replacements and optimizations, and HVAC modifications. Read the full press release here.
