Rep. Coffey Supports Our Illinois Veterans and Their Quality of Life

FIGHTING FOR VETERANS

“Thank you, veterans for
your sacrifices to protect
the freedom of our great
nation. We owe you a debt
of gratitude for safeguarding
the ideals of our founding
fathers and you will always
be a pivotal part of our
communities.”

State Representative Mike Coffey is happy to see his bill, which increases access to college scholarships
for children of U.S. military veterans, pass through the Illinois House of Representatives with support
from both sides of the aisle.

House Bill 4733 expands who is eligible for honorary scholarships to the children of veterans who served at any time during the invasion of Panama between December 20, 1989, and January 31, 1990.

“The sacrifices made by our military and their families can never be fully repaid; however, adding Panama conflict/Operation Just Cause to honorary scholarships is one small way we can repay them for their sacrifices.”

Legislation Rep. Coffey Supports That Helps Veterans

HB2288– Helps expand veteran-owned small businesses

HB612– Extends property tax relief for veterans with disabilities including veterans of World War II

HB3463– Increases the assessed value of the veteran’s property to receive an exemption

SB2751– Exempts veterans from building
permit fees for improvements related to the accommodation of their disability.
