Yesterday State Representative Wayne Rosenthal and I toured the new Illinois EPA (IEPA) state agency headquarters in Springfield. The state of Illinois purchased the space formerly occupied by Sears, in White Oaks Mall, to accommodate improvements to the 9th Street railroad corridor.
This transition will benefit the state and the 95th District. One benefit is that the state will save money by eliminated costly leases from current locations. It will also bring in more consumer traffic to the mall and surrounding businesses.
The new IEPA headquarters is expected to staff over 800 employees. In addition, the state also purchased the property of Wells Fargo at 4800 West Wabash Ave. with future plans that are to be determined. I will provide more information on that location as I hear more.
Thank you Aaron Ladzinski from Illinois Department of Central Management Services for the informative tour and explaining how this transition will be beneficial to our state.
