Happy Birthday to Our U.S. Navy

October 13, 1775 Continental Congress established a resolution to adopt the U.S. Navy. According to the Naval History and Heritage Command– ““a swift sailing vessel, to carry ten carriage guns, and a proportionable number of swivels, with eighty men, be fitted, with all possible dispatch, for a cruise of three months.” 248 years later our U.S. Navy stands proud.

“I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: ‘I served in the United States Navy.'”

-John F Kennedy
