The Women’s Pro Baseball League kicked off in Springfield, marking the first women’s professional baseball on American soil in nearly 80 years! Maybelle Blair, one of the oldest living players from the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League and an honorary chair of the WPBL, threw out the ceremonial first pitch to the sold-out season opening game.
Dave Stewart, the 1989 World Series MVP, also joined the community to celebrate this exciting game!
